Prima-edu® I: Uhka- ja vaarakäytöksen ehkäisy ja hallinta perusteet, teoria ja harjoittelu

The goal is the prevention and management of threatening and dangerous behavior:

- We raise awareness of the importance of the operational culture and interactional factors in early childhood education for the prevention of threatening and dangerous behavior.
- We develop employees' physical capabilities for anticipating and managing threatening and dangerous behavior in educational settings.

Physical restraint of a child or young person may be necessary if:

All proactive and interactive measures prove ineffective. The situation arises unexpectedly.
The child's aggressive behavior would cause a particularly serious
a dangerous situation for either oneself or others.

Staff occupational safety must be at the heart of operations.

Prima-edu® is a tool designed specifically to foster pedagogical safety through professional development. It helps create a more collaborative organizational culture rooted in strong professional maturity. It guides participants toward higher-quality interaction and encounters characterized by appreciation and respect—qualities that are put to the test particularly when dealing with challenging behavior, where even subtle signals from professionals can take on great significance. Prima-edu® also provides guidance on acting rationally during acute situations involving threatening or dangerous behavior, should an escalation occur despite all efforts to prevent it.

The prima-edu® concept was developed by Kira Hurme, Assistant Principal of the Espoo Hospital School, and special education teacher Tarmo Kyllönen.

The practical training lasts approximately three hours. Two instructors are always present to ensure effective and safe learning. The training accommodates a maximum of 25 participants at a time.

The Prima benefit can be customized as needed.
